Preview of "The Grovelor" Wellsy's new HP shortie for summer

This shape is a new HP shortie for smaller less punchy surf. Design features are fuller curve through nose and lower nose rocker. Single concave to slight lift and subtle curve in rail rocker through the tail.

Ideal size range is 2-4 inches shorter than your HP shortie and 1/4" - 1/2" wider, same thickness or slightly thicker.

Update 4/17/10 Chris sent me some pics from his trip and he scored on his short stay and the surf was up. Nice to be out with no wetsuit!



Strange how both of these different waves have the same spray pattern?! Virtually exact spray pattern on the face.

Custom Modern Longboard 9'4" for Chad

Chad brought in a board that I originally shaped him back in 1996. Since then he has owned many different iterations of boards and as time went on the original shape had eventually become worn and beat down and the board lost it's rotation over time.

We lost contact of each other while I was busy with production work until recently he resurrected the board out of storage and took it out for a spin and he realized why he couldn't get himself to sell the board.

I was able to find his original file from 1996 when I scanned his board over 14 years ago and faithfully reproduced his custom shape. Since 1996 til 2010 there has been only a single custom shaped from Chad's original file, it's this board 14 years later. The original master shape was 100% hand-shaped that was scanned and used to reproduce this new board. Albeit 14 years later. Lol.

David's custom Dyna-Glyde

Hi Wayne,

The DG is working great for me! It feels like I'm riding a 5'10" shortboard with longboard glide. The quad setup with the pivot rears feels good too. On Sat. I surfed a spot in Newport with dumpy shorebreak but was able get in early to grab a rail and get a couple backside barrels. It made my day. The DG is a great design.

Another one of Steve's Ol' Faithful

Steve has been poppin' his Ol Faithful models like toothpicks this winter even with the added rail channels. They have been weighing in at just over 8lbs. He has no interest in heavier glass schedules. Good thing I scan all my customers models/boards or the winter chill could feel extra long.

The Daily Driver is a sub shortie hybrid designed for the high performance short board styled surfing on small, weak surf. Plenty of paddling and entry speed similar to a fish type shape but with more drive and snappiness with carve ability from the rear foot and high speed projection and rail release/control.

Designed to be ridden "ideally" 4"-7” shorter and ¾”-1 ¼” wider than your performance shortie. Will scale up nicely for XL-XXL volumes for an equalizer without losing the shortboard performance. When riding an under volumed sinking HP shortie is not an option or a fish you can’t push and bury the tail/rail on without the tail washing out..

All the good stuff of a fish with out the “phunky fishy” feeling.

Design highlights:
Rocker: Low nose entry with a mild beak. Accelerated tail rocker with a mild flip.
Deck: Subtle center crown with mild dished nose and tail area (Low pressure area for flex)
Rails: Relatively thin and boxy also incorporates tapered down rails up front to thin and boxy for sensitivity.
