This is Jeffs 4th Bryd-Fish, this is his first Bryd-Fish II with the Scalloped hull bottom contours. Although similar in outline with the previous gen Bryd-Fish the rockers and foils have been changed for more drive from the front and quicker response with new tail rocker along with the quad set up and scalloped concaves.
Nice!! I think maybe the Jeff I picked up that (first?) used bryd-fish from about a year and 1/2 ago? love that split-double stringer.... dims?

Hey, that board looks very familar...lol

Scott, I didn't know you picked up a B-F from Jeff? Was that the double winged version with the blue bommerang on the deck?
ReplyDelete7'0" x 22 1/2" x 3.15" foam :-) yes.
yes sir -- that was the one! tail profile didnt quite ever cut it for my down here , for "daily driver" status -- was a good board in the right conditions though!!

Yeah, I was wondering,... that board was designed for winter surf and ground swells. It needs some juice to get the rails upto speed so the tail can do it's thing. It's basically a Bryd-Gun hahaha... labels.

really like the shape and outline of this BF-II, really nice wide tail -- looks playful :P

1.) Brydfish #1 surfed to death and eventually snapped.
ReplyDelete2.) Brydfish (bryd-gun) #2 surfed for 2 winters, sacrificed it in the summer for $$ to buy another board and regretted it. Tried to buy it back from Scott but he'd already sold it to Bryan Lamb. Bryan gave it to his girlfriend before discovering that it's not a great funboard. Bryan sold it to Dan. I traded a shortboard to Dan to get my beloved blue horseshoe Bryd back. Am proud to say that it's back in the rafters of my garage, waiting for juicy swells.
3.) Bryd #3 surfed to death before trading it to my neighbor who rarely surfs. He lets me use it whenever I ask. My favorite all time fish for chest to overhead. I've wasted alot of money trying other designs. Keep coming back to this old favorite.
As a side note, the Bryd-gun is a sick board in the right conditions. These are the right conditions: sizable chunky semi-closeout beachbreak. Add a little bump or onshores for extra excitement. Takes the drop while most others are getting hung up in the lip.
Super excited to Bryd 4.
It's gonna take alot to get me off the Dynaglide 9'4 but I think this will do it.

Wow, What a travel that board has made !!! that's pretty cool Jeff, that it went full circle back to you -- I still have the board I traded Bryan Lamb for your Bryd, a 9'2" spencer kellog "hull-ish" Longboard... what a trip!!! This #4 bryd is pretty slick looking -- may need to give one a spin after I break in the new "Dyna-EGG" :)

I think that many times due to the template its assumed that board was a funshape midlength. Not so.
ReplyDeleteJS
Yes, looks can be deceiving. Esp when it comes to this shape. So many different performance design aspects that are intergrated in this shape that it is worlds apart from from a general egg funshape.

BTW your avatar / graphic next to your posts is a crackup. lol.
ReplyDeletejs
ahahaha.... speaking of "judging by appearance".
ReplyDeleteA really good friend by the name of Chris Charney designed that. He's a fine artist and did the graphics for me. He had me cracking up when he showed me that, it was hilarious. It's from my "Simple, Ain't Easy" logo. I have a link to his site on the right column under "Friends" check it out...

Just to chime in on the strange circular bryd-gun voyage, the Oakfoils thruster that Jeff traded me for his BG didn't work out as a step-up so I sold to a buddy of mine who is the same build as Jeff.
ReplyDeleteHe won't surf anything else and can't get over how well it surfs.
And I used the money to get Wayne to build me the stunning Qwad.
Wow, now that's cool!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize the travels Jeff's Bryd-G went through!
