Kelly ordered this shape with out any particular shape in mind, just asked for something post modern with 5-fin. “Do yo thang boy….” Stoaked!... Surprise! LOL.

It’s rare that I get a free reign to express myself in terms of design, I’ve always gravitated towards progressive shapes with a twist. For those that have followed my shapes, This new Cosmic Flyer has it’s roots directly to the “Kiddler” and the “Big Kid” I shaped back in 2007-2008 and the “Cosmic Glyder” All these post modern shapes have been inspired by customers giving the nod to make something special with out any inhibitions to design parameters. Back then when these shapes were made there was some poo poo static and criticisms about the unorthodox shapes. Back then it was a hard sell to be different.

Now forward the clock 5 years to 2012 with Daniel Thompson designs and shapes. With his post modern evolution of shapes and his ability to really expound these shapes performance he has brought credibility to these types of shapes.

Although not for everyone, these post modern shapes bring some new excitement to progressive surfing and sparked some new interest and approach to design and progressive modern surfing.
