Dave's custom "New" Galaxy Twin in EPS / Epoxy

The original Galaxy Twin is a slightly modern version of the twins from the 80's. This "New" Galaxy Twin is a contemporary take of the 80's version, much more honed and refined. Overall template has been narrowed, wings have been modified, rails are much more tapered and thinned out. Still maintains a nose beak with down rails up towards the tip.

  3. Dave,
My glasser just picked up your board. Hopefully if all goes as scheduled I should have it back by next week. I'm really stoked on how the shape formed. It's a refinement to the orginal Galaxy I been thinking about for some time, suited for decent waves like in your locale.

Wow, what a turn around. The fastest customs in the west!

  9. Wayne you have to slow these customs down. I know capitalism isn't your strong suit. So hears a lesson on how it works: take an order then put it on the shelf for a month. Definitely don't even look at it for a month. Then order the blank. Let the blank "cure" for another 2 months. Then shape the board and by all means DO NOT call the glasser to pick it up for another month. Make sure the glasser realizes that this board is NOT a priority. If the glasser drops of the board too soon, make sure you don't pay him quickly because then he'll make sure the next one takes 3 months. After the glasser drops the board off 2 months later, let the board "cure" for another month ( ie collect dust ). From there, call the customer to let him know his "rush order" is done.

They will think that since the board took a full 8-10 months to deliver, the board will have some special sauce and "secret mojo". They will tell all their friends about their rad board that "only" took 10 months to get. Definitely make sure you are not very nice to new customers and make sure they know you are a "Mysto" "underground" an "mercurial" shaper that will only work with them if they know the secret handshake.

Charge $3500 for any longboard, and $1600 for a fish. Do not make shortboards anymore. Mysto shapers only go retro. No glass jobs any lighter than triple 6. Definitely no more clear boards.

I am quite sure that you will be the talk of Socal and make ALOT MORE MONEY. Which is what it's all about, right????

    The end.

    -Jeff

  10. Lol, Thanks guys. Hey Jeff I'll remember those words the next time you order a custom. J/K.

If you want abuse and long turn around time just let me know! It's optional and extra charge. lol.

Honestly, If there's any shaper around that has been shaping for some time should have their game dialed in. Esp if the shaper has any type of production experience. Just because a big time shapers name is on the board doesn't mean that he shapes every single board produced. Most of them rely on someone like me to do either the design, programming, digitizing, milling, or finishing. As far as shaping I do everything and don't have to rely on others for production. I am the production. lol.

Most of the big labels have major marketing dollars to throw around. It drives the demand up for those labels as the uninitiated are more driven to those labels. As far as my own label, most all my customers have been surfing for many years or have searched me out by mostly word of mouth and are looking to dial in there equiptment. Most of my customers seem to be more sophisticated and not market driven, they seem to know what they want and where they want to go and can articulate their desires. Makes my job easy, and I appreciate it.
